April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Every year, almost 1000 New Hampshire children are victims of substantiated abuse and neglect. Almost one-third of child victims are under the age of three, the most vulnerable time in a child’s life.

New brain research has clearly demonstrated that abuse and neglect can have profound negative effects on brain development and on children’s growth and behavior into adulthood. In addition to physical injury, abuse and neglect cause extremely high, persistent levels of stress that affects the chemistry of a child’s brain, making normal emotional and social development less likely.

At Good Beginnings, we understand how stressful it is to be a parent. We believe that all parents and children deserve the help and support they need to develop a healthy parent-child relationship that is free from abuse and neglect.

During April, we ask that you consider a donation to Good Beginnings for our child abuse prevention programs.
